    Clove oil helps reduce skin sagging and wrinkles. Regular application of this essential oil increases blood circulation which is important for healthy skin. If your blood does not circulate well, the transportation of nutrients into your skin cells will be less efficient. This can adversely affect collagen production, which is needed to prevent the appearance of wrinkles.

    4. May fade dark spots

    Clove oil helps in fading dark spots and blemishes left behind by acne, says the expert. Its exfoliating properties help in removing dead skin cells and ensuring an even skin tone.

    Clove oil has analgesic properties, which help relieve pain or discomfort. When applied topically, it may provide relief from minor skin irritations, insect bites, or stings.

    Clove oil, being rich in antioxidants, can help neutralise free radicals. Free radicals can contribute to premature ageing and damage to the skin cells. The antioxidant properties of clove oil may aid in protecting the skin from oxidative stress.

    • Take a few drops of clove essential oil and dab it on your acne. Use it like a spot treatment or just mix it with your cream or moisturiser. Another way of using it could be with turmeric for a patch treatment.
    • Take a cotton pad and pour a few drops of clove oil on it. Apply a light layer to your face, or mix the oil with serum for a radiant glow.
    • Take a few drops of clove essential oil and mix it with a carrier oil like almond or coconut oil. Massage it on your face properly using circular motions to ensure proper blood circulation.

    The frequency with which clove oil can be used on the skin depends on a variety of factors, including skin sensitivity, the purpose of use, and the concentration of clove oil in the product, says the expert. Also, the dilution ratio should be about 1 to 2 drops of clove oil per tablespoon of carrier oil. This helps reduce the risk of skin irritation.

    Are there any side effects of using clove oil for skin?

    Clove oil is highly concentrated and may cause skin irritation, redness, or a burning sensation, especially if applied undiluted. Here are some side effects:

    • Essential oils, including clove oil, can be drying to the skin. If applied undiluted or in excessive amounts, it may lead to dryness, peeling, or flakiness.
    • Women with allergies or sensitivities should be cautious when using essential oils, including clove oil. It is best to perform a patch test and see if there are any adverse reactions.
